The role

As a Planning Engineer, you’ll have a role where your analytical skills and attention to detail will directly contribute to national defence capability, while giving you the opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic and purposeful environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide critical project planning and scheduling expertise to support Engineering Services across site‑wide facilities. You’ll develop and maintain programmes that keep complex engineering projects on track, ensuring resources are aligned and milestones achieved.

  • Creating baselined project schedules using Primavera P6 and facility requirements.
  • Developing and updating programmes, delivery dates, and key milestones with project leads and subject matter experts.
  • Maintaining project structures and logic within Primavera P6, ensuring accurate coding and reporting.
  • Facilitating progress meetings, analysing deviations, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Capturing and validating project hours to support resource planning and SAP integration.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Planning Engineer
  • Experience in an engineering environment with strong planning and programme management skills.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 (advantageous).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
Qualifications for the Planning Engineer
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A–C / 4–9), including Maths and English.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
