Physiological Sciences Accreditation Manager

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and proactive Physiological Sciences Accreditation Manager to lead and coordinate accreditation and quality assurance activities across our physiological sciences services. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and strengthen the quality and compliance of services that are essential to patient diagnostics and care.

You will work in close partnership with clinical leads, Healthcare Scientists, and Trust governance teams to drive continuous improvement, support external audits, and ensure that our diagnostic services are safe, effective, and fit for the future.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for developing and managing an integrated quality assurance and risk management system for Physiological Science Services across Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

They will:

  • Lead accreditation, compliance, and audit programmes.
  • Drive quality improvement and patient-focused service development.
  • Provide senior leadership on quality, governance, and safety issues.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Work closely with senior clinical and scientific staff to embed best practice.

Some of the core tasks will include:

Quality Assurance

  • Maintain accreditation (UKAS, MHRA, HTA, HSE) and lead on inspections.
  • Develop and integrate quality management systems across services.
  • Produce and maintain quality manuals, SOPs, and controlled documents.
  • Lead internal audits and ensure external quality assessment scheme participation.
  • Monitor KPIs and outcomes, reporting regularly to the Medical Director.
  • Chair the Physiological Science Services Quality Meeting.

Risk & Clinical Governance

  • Chair the Physiological Sciences Risk Action Group.
  • Maintain the IQIPS risk register and support Trust-wide governance reporting.
  • Lead root cause analysis of incidents and embed preventative actions.
  • Provide expert advice to Trust Clinical Governance and Risk Management teams.

Health & Safety

  • Lead Physiological Sciences input into Health & Safety policy, audits, and inspections.
  • Authorise and oversee COSHH/risk assessments and training.
  • Represent Physiological Sciences on Trust Health & Safety and Medical Gas Committees.
  • Support service transformation and quality improvement programmes.
  • Lead on electronic temperature monitoring systems and critical equipment compliance.
  • Work with facilities and estates teams to ensure service continuity and compliance.
