Job Summary

The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional service and professional specimen collection for patients. This role combines excellent phlebotomy skills, strong customer service, and compliance with strict quality and confidentiality standards to ensure accurate, efficient laboratory operations and a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform blood draws and specimen collection with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment at all times.
  • Execute both forensic and clinical specimen collection tasks per established procedures.
  • Accurately label, document, and handle all specimens for transport and testing.
  • Support departmental goals by completing daily assignments accurately and on time.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, fostering trust and professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, HIPAA, and quality assurance standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to maintain operational excellence.
  • Work flexibly to support weekends, holidays, on-call, or overtime as needed.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
  • 1+ years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience in a clinical, retail, or service setting.
  • Proficient keyboard/data entry skills.
Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification required (per Massachusetts regulations).
Required Skills
  • Strong phlebotomy proficiency, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Understanding of compliance, confidentiality, and data integrity standards.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
