Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) represents the face of the organization by delivering high-quality phlebotomy and customer service to patients seeking routine or diagnostic testing. The PSR I is responsible for collecting blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, performing EKGs and point-of-care procedures, and upholding strict confidentiality and accuracy standards. This role supports a fast-paced Patient Service Center environment and requires professionalism, reliability, and strong patient interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection following established procedures.
  • Ensure accurate specimen labeling, demographic verification, and required documentation.
  • Deliver patient-focused service by creating a welcoming, professional, and safe environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen processing with confidence and adherence to standards.
  • Maintain required logs, documentation, and recordkeeping.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while communicating clearly with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Flexibility to support staffing needs including weekends, holidays, on-call, or overtime as required.
  • Uphold organizational policies, safety protocols, dress code, and confidentiality guidelines.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
  • Data entry/keyboard experience required.
Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
    • Required only in CA, NV, and WA — not required in MD.
Required Skills
  • Strong phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Ability to perform error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to staffing needs and scheduling requirements.
