Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude:
Duties:- Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples for medical testing- Label vials accurately and maintain proper documentation of collected samples- Ensure patient identification and verify medical records for accuracy- Utilise aseptic techniques during specimen collection to prevent contamination- Handle specimens appropriately and transport them to the laboratory for analysis- Provide basic life support in case of adverse reactions during blood collection- Maintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with health and safety regulations

Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care, work strictly in accordance with Practice protocols & guidelines.Duties and Responsibilities include:
The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels.
a.Obtainingpatient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b.Performingvenepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
c.Maintainingaccurate patient records on System One
d.Thecorrect labelling, packaging and storing of samples
e.Effectiveuse of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
f.Ensuringsamples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
g.Maintainingan effective liaison with the laboratory staff at Royal County Sussex, Brighton
h.Workingcollaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary forpatient related matters
