Henfield Medical Centre are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team - mimum 23 hrs a week. Working closely with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists and other health care professionals. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications while providing exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and a patient focused approach to care.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with complex day to day medication queries & provide advice to patients & staff under supervision
  • Deal with drug alerts and put structured plans in place to prepare alternatives when supply issues occur
  • Reconcile medication on hospital discharges
  • Process hospital letters with medication requests/amendments
  • Audit patients with high levels of medications and look at ways to improve polypharmacy
  • Add/amend medication on patient records and ensuring processes are followed to allow relevant checks to be made by clinicians
  • Help ensure that the Administration & all clinicians are prescribing in the most cost effective way & provide them with up to date information on most cost effective products & ways to do this.
  • Assist in annual prescribing/medication projects set out by NHS England & Sussex ICB including Medicines Optimisation Incentive Scheme (MOIS) cost containment projects
  • Monitor Drug & Device alerts from the MHRA
  • Up keep of patient records to ensure prescriptions are written in line with MEP (Medicines, Ethics and Practice) & GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) guidance.
  • Conduct audits to increase patient safety & monitoring
  • Conduct clinical sessions working with patients to review or titrate their medication either face-to-face/on the phone
  • Liaising with local pharmacies, community nurse teams, local hospitals, local care homes & GP Pharmacy teams
  • Responding to the needs and wants of the business to ensure excellent patient care

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Essential Qualifications
  • - Pharmacy Technician (NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
  • - Good standard of general education, including maths and english
  • - Experience within a pharmacy, dispensary of preferrably General Practice
  • - Strong understanding of medication prescribing, administration practices and protocols
  • - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient care
  • Desirable Qualifications
  • - Experience of using TPP SystmOne clinical system
  • - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • - Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and technology
