  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacist to take on the pivotal role of Medication Safety Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on medication safety initiatives, drive improvements in prescribing practices, and ensure the highest standards of patient care across our organisation.

As the Medication Safety Officer, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of safe medication use, analysing medication incidents, and implementing system-wide changes to reduce risk. You will work closely with clinical teams, governance leads, and pharmacy colleagues to embed best practices and support continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the development and implementation of medication safety strategies.
  • Investigate and analyse medication-related incidents, identifying trends and root causes.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on safe prescribing, administration, and monitoring of medicines.
  • Deliver training and education sessions to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with clinical governance and risk management teams to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and audit tools related to medication safety.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders on medication safety matters.

About You

  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • 6 Months post-registration experience in an NHS hospital.
  • Strong understanding of medication safety principles and guidance.
