I am looking for a Personal / Home Care Assistant to provide support and care for my daughter, a young lady in the Stoke-on-Trent area that has Lissencephaly which is also known as “smooth brain syndrome”.

My daughter has a love for music and hats! The right person for this role has to be fun loving, with a good sense of humour and not mind wearing multiple hats at once! My daughter is a sweet girl with lots of personality, and we feel this position is the best position someone could hope for.

Her symptoms may include difficulty swallowing, failure to thrive, muscle spasms, seizures, and severe global developmental delay. She can have severe seizures for which she requires oxygen and rescue medication. She is a wheelchair user and cannot communicate her needs and wishes verbally. My daughter currently requires diligent 24-hour care to ensure that she keeps her oxygen mask on when she is sleeping whether that be at night or in the day. As Personal / Home Care Assistant, you will need to support her in all aspects of life from personal care and associated domestic tasks, to accessing social activities. You would be required to support for evening routines, cover mornings as and when needed, and also may be required for respite away from home.

You will receive :

• £12.98 per hour
• A pensionif eligible
• 5.6 weeks per year pro rata annual leave
• Full certificated training on all aspects of the role

Hours available :

• 30 hours per week
• There is the opportunity to work additional hours on occasions in relation to holidays and sickness

What’s Required :

• Provide assistance with all aspects of personal care, bathing, washing hair and dressing
• A full manual driving licence is desirable
• Flexibility in working hours essential, night shifts may also be required
• Weekend work essential
• Daily support with use and care of equipment
• An enhanced DBS check, the cost will be met by the Employer
