Job description
Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker

Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker required to assist a person with a Physical/Learning Disability living in the Blantyre area.

You would be required to provide one‑to‑one care and assistance within their home including attending to personal care and participation in social activities. Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:

  • Attending to all personal care needs (showering, toileting including bowel movements, shaving)
  • Assisting with medication
  • Preparing meals and healthy snacks
  • Moving and assisting – pushing manual wheelchair, using manual hoist only if required
  • General housekeeping and tidying up after the individual
  • Driver essential – you will be required to use your own vehicle; mileage allowance will be paid.

Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage the individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.

Favourite activities are watching Football on TV, going out for Lunch and Bowling.

House can be busy with family coming and going with children and small dogs.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience is required.

The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.

Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Hours of Work

Recruiting for 1 position – Guaranteed permanent position of 17.5 hours per week.

Days and times

Weekly rota – Example: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday including every 2nd weekend. Some overtime available for weekends. Earliest start would be 9 am to assist with morning routine; a typical shift would end at the latest 3 pm. Days will be discussed at interview.

Hourly rate: £12.60
