A local support organization in Frampton Cotterell seeks a Personal Assistant to support a young Deaf male. The role involves assisting with building independence, researching community activities, and navigating public transport routes. Ideal candidates will possess British Sign Language skills and have a patient demeanor with a good sense of humor. This part-time position offers a competitive hourly rate and focuses on helping the client engage with the Deaf community and explore new experiences.
Personal assistant for a young Deaf male currently living in the Frampton Cottrell area.
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support me for 3 hours a week. I have a Cochlear Implant and am able to hear but can find spoken communication difficult. It would help to have a person who also has British Sign Language Skills to help me understand information.
I am looking for someone to help me build my independence and meet new people. This can include researching places to visit and activities to try, planning the bus route and familiarizing with journeys. I would like to try new experiences and activities and need help choosing/finding these as I am unsure what is available in the community. I would like to build identity in the Deaf community and try to learn some more BSL.
I do not need any support with personal care.
I would like this person to be kind and patient with a good sense of humor. By providing me with assistance, I would like to build the skills to be able to lead an individual and independent lifestyle.
The Personal Assistant should feel confident to ask what my needs are. I find spoken communication can be difficult and I would like you to ask when you have not understood me. I would like you to be able to provide me with positive encouragement.
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring check.
Rate per hour: £12.40
