Job description

A caring and supportive personal assistant is required for a 16-year‑old boy living in the St Dennis area. He has anxiety, disliking loud noises, and he would like someone who he can build up a positive relationship with and provide him with some 1:1 support.

He would like someone to support him with his communication and social skills out in the community. His interests are all animals, VR headsets and video/music videos on YouTube.

Your support will enable him to explore the local area, enjoy more social opportunities, and establish an engaging routine, particularly during weekends and school holidays. This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow and achieve greater independence while making a positive impact on his life.

The role is part‑time, with 6 hours per week available, although this is very flexible. Weekend and school holiday availability will be required.

The hourly rate is £12.60, plus mileage allowance. A driving licence and access to your own vehicle, with business use insurance, are required for this role.

Experience or knowledge of working with young people with SEND is essential.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and will not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
