A family in need of assistance is seeking a Personal Assistant to support a creative and witty 14-year-old boy in South West York. The role involves building a trusting relationship and engaging in activities like gaming while ensuring the child's comfort and autonomy. Hours start at 1-2 per week with potential to grow. Experience with autism or similar conditions is a bonus, but personality and empathy are key.
Personal Assistant (PA) Wanted – Arthur’s Adventure
Location: South West York
Hours: To be agreed with the family (starting with 1–2 hours a week, with potential to grow)
Rate of Pay: £12.60 per hour
Arthur is a creative and witty 14-year-old living in South West York. He is autistic with PDA characteristics and has ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), which means his food choices are limited. He sometimes finds walking difficult over longer distances, so he uses a wheelchair when out and about. He currently learns through a mix of online education with a specialist provider and one weekly school session.
At first, your role will be about hanging out with Arthur at home, getting to know him, and building a trusting relationship. Once you’ve got to know each other, your adventures may expand to short trips out.
