Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Peripatetic Social Work Practice Lead to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This ongoing locum role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of service areas, providing expert leadership, practice guidance, and frontline support where it is most needed. Earning £38.00 per hour, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of practice across social work teams, offering professional oversight, supporting staff, and contributing to service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert practice leadership and consultation to social work teams across the authority
  • Support services experiencing increased demand, staff shortages, or requiring improvement
  • Mentor and supervise frontline social workers, team managers, and newly qualified staff through coaching and reflective supervision
  • Promote and model best practice, ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks and organisational standards
  • Contribute to practice development, service reviews, audits, and quality assurance processes
  • Oversee and support complex casework involving safeguarding and critical care planning
  • Help implement service improvement strategies using strengths-based and relationship-based approaches
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and partner agencies to ensure effective multi-agency interventions

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within statutory social work settings
  • Proven ability to lead, support, and develop social work practice across multiple teams
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care planning, supervision, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Flexibility to work across various locations in Birmingham
  • Enhanced DBS and reference checks required
