We're looking for a proactive People Operations Assistant to join our dynamic Human Resources team and help us deliver an outstanding service across the college.

This is a varied and fast‑paced role, perfect for someone who enjoys supporting others, thrives under pressure, and is passionate about delivering a great employee experience from day one.

Salary: £25,458 - £26,290 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed Term (until 31/07/26)

Working hours: 37 hours per week

Working pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours / Friday 7 hours

Weeks per annum: 52 weeks

Location: Abingdon Campus

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting recruitment processes from advert to appointment, including induction and probation administration.
  • Preparing and issuing key HR documents such as offer letters, contracts, and leaver paperwork.
  • Maintaining accurate staff records in our HR system (HRIS) and ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Coordinating staff development requests and supporting both internal and external training activities.
  • Ensuring all Right to Work and safeguarding compliance documentation is up to date.
  • Providing administrative support to Payroll and the wider HR team when needed.

Essential Experience:

  • Education to Level 2 (GCSEs or equivalent).
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines.
  • Confident communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience handling confidential information.
  • High-quality customer service skills - friendly, efficient and professional.
  • Experience working in a busy team.
  • Flexibility and resilience under pressure.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in HR, recruitment, or staff development.
  • Ability to draft professional correspondence.
  • HR qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Recruitment experience.
  • Experience using iTrent.
