A leading public sector service provider in the UK seeks a Payroll Team Leader to oversee high-volume payroll services for multiple clients. Responsibilities include managing a team, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a customer-centric service approach. Ideal candidates will have experience in payroll, strong leadership skills, and a solid understanding of UK payroll legislation. This full-time role offers the opportunity to drive process improvements and enhance service delivery.

We now have exciting opportunities within our Payroll Team. These are great roles for experienced payrollers to take the next step utilising and increasing their experience across complex payroll activities with responsibility across the entire process.
The payroll team provides the end-to-end payroll process for multiple clients across three different platforms amounting to in excess of 39000 payslips monthly. These roles support compliance with statutory obligations / employment legislation and internal service level agreements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer service excellence. These roles support the delivery of strategic workforce priorities.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and knowledge resources
Foster and develop a proactive and customer‑centric approach to service delivery including delivering high quality end‑user experiences
Proven work experience gained in a high-volume payroll role preferably within a Shared Services environment
Ideally possess CIPP qualification
A track record of leading and developing a small-medium sized team
Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to influence others to achieve service delivery targets
High level of numeracy accuracy and attention to detail
Experience of problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrates and fosters a strong customer service orientation
Proficient in HR systems (Oracle Workday) and Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word
Ability to explain payroll information to non-payroll colleagues and end users
