Job summary

A leading defense company is seeking a Payroll Administrator to accurately manage complex payrolls within a dynamic team. The role involves ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, resolving queries, and supporting process improvements. Candidates should possess extensive experience in UK Payroll, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize workloads effectively. A CIPP qualification is advantageous, along with strong IT proficiency. This position offers a contract for 12 months and is located in Lancashire, England.

Qualifications

  • Previous knowledge and experience of UK Payroll is essential.
  • Experience of delivering multiple payrolls in a Payroll Service.
  • Up to date payroll legislation knowledge required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process high volume and complex Payrolls accurately.
  • Log advances, errors and report issues to the Payroll Team Manager.
  • Review work instructions for compliance with governance and audit.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in Payroll processes.
  • Review Finance reconciliation items regularly.
  • Assist with Payroll audits and reviews as needed.
  • Train team members when required.
  • Resolve payroll queries efficiently.
  • Identify actions to minimize under/over payments.
  • Prioritize workload and provide a responsive Payroll Service.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for BAE Systems as a Payroll Administrator on a 12 month contract. This role will be based within the Payroll Operations team, reporting to one of the Payroll Team Managers. This role requires a customer focused approach to accurately administer complex, high volume payrolls.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and processing of high volume and complex Payrolls in line with SLA s and HMRC legislation.
  • Responsible for logging any advances, errors and overpayments and reporting any known issues/defects to a Payroll Team Manager for timely review.
  • Play a key role in ensuring that all work instructions and processes regularly reviewed and remain compliant with governance and audit procedures. Proactively escalates any discrepancies or changes required.
  • Support with the continuous improvement initiative, highlighting new ideas and better ways of working.
  • Responsible for the regular review of all Finance reconciliation items for your areas of responsibility.
  • Support with internal/external Payroll reviews/audits when required.
  • Support with the training of team members as and when required.
  • Work alongside our employees, Business stakeholders and internal/external teams in order to promptly resolve any business, employee and Third Party payroll related queries, ensuring the most effective communication method is used.
  • Responsible for identifying and taking relevant preventative action to minimise under / over payments.
  • Responsible for prioritising your own workload and using initiative and problem solving capabilities to provide a responsive Payroll Service at all times.
  • Other duties as defined by the Payroll Team Manager and Business.
Knowledge
  • Previous knowledge and experience of UK Payroll is essential along with previous experience of working within a Payroll Service delivering multiple payrolls. Up to date payroll legislation knowledge is required, including an appreciation for future changes and the possible impact of these on a Payroll function.
  • Experience of using Resource Link system or similar system would be an advantage.
