Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Patient Progress Chaser role within the Emergency Department. We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to support our fast-paced department attending to over 100000 patients annually. Progress Chasers will be vital in supporting safe and effective patient flow through the department, ensuring patient safety targets are maintained.

Working within a large multi-disciplinary team you will liaise with ED Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Nurses, Specialty Teams, Management, Site Capacity and other support teams such as Porters. The ability to remain calm under pressure is essential in our fast-paced department. Excellent administrative and IT skills are required to ensure accurate documentation throughout the patient journey using systems such as Lorenzo and Nervecentre.

Responsibilities
  • Support safe and effective patient flow and maintain patient safety targets within the Emergency Department.
  • Communicate effectively with ED Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurses, Specialty Teams, Management, Site Capacity and support services to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate progress or any issues with managerial or clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Utilise IT systems relevant to the ward/department (e.g., Lorenzo, NerveCentre, ICE, DIGIT) to document and track patient information and flow.
  • Work with ward staff to implement defined procedures that promote robust and effective patient flow.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with patients, families and a range of colleagues across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills with experience using electronic patient record systems such as Lorenzo, NerveCentre, ICE and DIGIT.
