Overview

Are you an education expert? We are currently seeking an experienced SEMH pastoral mentor (teaching assistant) for a secondary school-based job to start immediately. We are supporting a secondary school based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northeast (NE3 5HP) with a full-time vacancy for a secondary school pastoral mentor (teaching assistant).

Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral mentoring and support for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Support pupils who are in KS2 at primary level or KS3/KS4 at secondary level as appropriate.
  • Work in a long-term, temporary capacity with potential to transition to a permanent role later in the academic year.
  • Collaborate with school staff and the SEMH provision across the trust to support learners' wellbeing and progress.
Requirements
  • Relevant UK-based qualification.
  • Substantial experience working within an education setting.
  • All required documents for safer recruitment processing, including valid right-to-work proof.
  • Exceptional references.
Details
  • Proposed start date: September/October 2025
  • Salary: Daily rate equivalent (£110 to £120 per day)
