Grade C, scp4 £8,537 to scp6 £8,809, £13.05 per hour

Contract: Various hours available

The Role

Passenger Assistants are vital in enabling the Council to support and provide additional assistance to young people who have special educational needs, ensuring a safe environment is maintained on the journey from / to home / school and other settings.

You will be responsible for making sure that every person safely boards the vehicle, (e.g. bus or taxi) and is secured before travelling, and are responsible for the behaviour, safety and wellbeing of the passengers.

You will be given relevant training to enable you to undertake this rewarding and valued role.

We are offering 15 hour, term time only contracts with Core working hours of 7.45am to 9.15am and 2.45pm to 4.15pm Monday to Friday.

We are also recruiting Casual Passenger assistants who are required to cover for sickness, holidays any other emergencies that may occur.

About You

You will be able to work with both children and adults who have various needs with dignity and respect. You will be able to communicate with parents / carers in a friendly and understanding manner.

Passenger Assistants must have a compassionate and caring nature, be flexible and motivated, able to follow instructions and deal with emergencies in a calm manner.

You must be physically fit with the ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care and support required.

You must also be well‑organised and have an ability to adapt to changing situations and schedules.
