Overview

Part Time Compliance Manager – SE London. A permanent role for a knowledge­able and proactive compliance professional to lead compliance initiatives within a collaborative legal services environment, ensuring regulatory standards and accreditation requirements are met.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the firm's compliance with SRA Codes of Conduct and Accounts Rules.
  • Manage anti-money laundering practices and ensure adherence to GDPR regulations.
  • Record compliance breaches, handle complaints, and prepare for Lexcel and ISO audits.
  • Support the firm’s application for Practising Certificates and oversee the renewal of Professional Indemnity insurance.
  • Develop and maintain robust compliance systems within the law firm; contribute to continuous improvement and training opportunities (e.g., LawNet and other providers).
Knowledge, Training, and Experience Required
  • Solid understanding of the regulatory framework governing solicitors, including Codes of Conduct and Accounts Rules.
  • Ability to make informed judgments to meet compliance obligations; able to work independently while coordinating with teams.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.
Organisational Position

You will report directly to the Managing Partner and work closely with management and administrative support teams. The role is integral to maintaining compliance standards and achieving Lexcel and ISO accreditation.

Role of Department

The compliance department upholds required standards to ensure the firm’s operational integrity and reputation in the legal sector.

Key Result Areas

You will become a true expert in compliance systems within a law firm, with opportunities for further training through LawNet and other providers. Your contributions will directly impact the firm’s compliance posture.

Communications and Relationships

Effective communication is essential. You will engage with internal stakeholders (management, fee earners, secretarial teams) as well as external clients and regulatory bodies to foster positive relationships and successful compliance management.

Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Environmental Demands

The role is based in an open-plan office environment and may involve some light lifting. It requires prioritising tasks and multitasking with the ability to focus under pressure.

Equipment and Tools

Primary equipment includes a Surface Pro; use of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Tikit, Google, and other internet resources to manage compliance-related tasks and documentation.
