Job summary

A leading children's charity is seeking a Parenting Practitioner to provide evidence-based parenting support to families in Dorset. This part-time role (15 hours per week) is home-based, requiring travel to deliver training sessions across the area. Job description

Role: Parenting Practitioner

Salary: £26,500 per annum (pro rata) – depending on experience and qualifications

Location: Dorset, primarily covering North/West Dorset

Contract/Hours: Part‑time – 15 hours a week, Fixed Term Contract for 12 months

A bit about the role

Dorset Parent Training & Education offer evidence‑based parenting programmes to families needing additional help to manage their children's behaviour. We work with parents/carers across the county to ensure that children and young people have the love, support, and opportunity they need to reach their potential.

The role is home‑based with travel required to an office in Ferndown, outreach hubs and families to deliver training sessions across Dorset (mileage and time from your home in Dorset is recompensed). The role is for 15 hours a week which can be flexible but ideally would be over 2 or 3 days and to include Mondays.

  • Providing a high‑quality service to children, young people, and their families

  • Promoting and delivering evidence‑based parenting programmes

Let's talk about you
  • NVQ Level 3 in Child Care/Development (essential)
  • Experience of working alongside or liaising with multi‑agencies
  • Experience of working with children, young people, and families
  • Experience of supporting families to manage their children's behaviour by using evidence‑based parenting strategies
  • Experience of delivering group sessions
  • It is essential that you live locally – within Dorset
  • Also essential that you have access to your own vehicle (The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act)
