About the Legal Team

The Legal Team is a high achieving in house team providing litigation and transactional property legal services. As an entrepreneurial team, we are constantly looking at how we can add value and improve the services provided to A2Dominion so that it can reinvest back into its social purpose. We also support professional and personal development, and many of our team members have been promoted into their roles and supported to qualification. It is because of this success, that we now have this opportunity in our team, owing to team members moving on to new roles consisting of promotions and new areas of law. The Transactions Team in particular, deals with many areas of property transactions for freehold, leasehold and shared ownership properties, including resales, staircasing, lease extensions, deeds of variation, asset disposals and right to acquire. We also regularly provide advice, with deed interpretation and title structure research being the main areas where this is provided. The Team is also currently exploring opportunities to assist A2Dominion with access requests and the alterations process. The Team is inclusive and diverse, and collaborate well together. We’re looking for people who can enhance our offering, are team spirited, and those who maintain an interest in what is happening in law and within A2Dominion.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Paralegal to join our dedicated Legal Services Team. This role will be tasked with supporting the Transaction division with administration as well as managing their own caseload.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist the team in meeting and exceeding its objectives as outlined in its service level agreement
  • Assist qualified members of the Transactions Team with all administration tasks associated with their matters. This includes file set ups, drafting simple correspondence, issuing consents, arranging signing and sealing, dealing with completion, post completion, and requisitions from Land Registry, and archiving documents
  • Manage own caseload of property transactional work under supervision. This will involve a substantial amount of drafting of deeds and other contracts. Matter type allocation will be dependent on level of experience and training will be provided as needed
  • Carry out legal research using Lexis Nexis, Land Registry, Companies House and other sources as appropriate
  • Manage files and Transactions calendar, and ensure a high level of organisation, including good document and task management
  • Track new matters and fees within case management software and on spreadsheets
  • Use Microsoft office for tasks including Word for track changes and Excel for spreadsheets
  • Ensure that expenditure is forecasted and captured correctly, this includes recording time taken to carry out work and recording disbursements against matters
  • Performance focused and deliver an excellent service to our Clients and Stakeholders
  • Explore ways of self-development in line with team objectives
  • Represent Legal Services with internal and external teams including attending Client meetings and working collaboratively with Clients and others
  • Actively participate in improvements to service and feedback on projects and changes made
More about you
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (Grades A*- C)
  • Completed law degree / CPE / GDL or equivalent or CILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice or Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services
  • Strong IT and communication skills
  • Demonstrable organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
  • Experience of managing own caseload
  • Residential property law experience – Desirable
