Overview

Hywel Dda UHB Inpatient Acute Pain Service is looking for a motivated, forward thinking and experienced registered nurse who is committed to ensuring the delivery of safe and patient focused care. We are looking to appoint a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist, ideally with prior experience in pain services or experience at Band 6 or above with the required knowledge and skills for the role. Experience will include the assessment and management of patients receiving regional analgesia (epidural and nerve blocks), Patient Controlled Analgesia or those with complex acute and acute-on-chronic pain presentations. Due to the nature of the role, you will be able to demonstrate an ability to work autonomously, prioritise your own workload as well as having excellent communication skills to co-ordinate with multi-disciplinary team members including anaesthetists, pharmacists, ward teams and allied health professionals. The post holder will be a team player, working alongside the clinical nurse specialists in the delivery of multi-professional pain education and service development.

This will be a permanent position, and will work clinically at Withybush and Glangwili General Hospitals (dependent on clinical demand). This is a full-time post however job share maybe considered. The post holder will autonomously assess and manage both acute and acute-on-chronic pain using evidence-based intervention, including those with patient-controlled analgesia, regional analgesia, and other specialised techniques of pain relief.

Assist in the provision of professional and clinical leadership in the care of inpatients presenting with acute pain, acting as a resource to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff. Support patients in making the most appropriate decisions in managing sometimes complex health needs. This will be facilitated by providing quality evidence-based advice. Lead and contribute to the formulation of patient information resources. Liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team.

Responsible for the provision of specialist education to patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team including the writing, delivery and evaluation of training programmes. Contribute to the development of pain services, ensuring maintenance of professional standards across the specialty. This includes collaborative working, formulating protocols, guidelines and contributing to the development of nursing and service development through research, audit and quality improvement. Attend forums and networks locally and nationally to benchmark and share evidence-based practice.

You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.
