Job summary

A large NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a Band 5 Registered Children’s Nurse for a fixed-term position at Meadow Ward / Outpatients. This role involves providing exceptional care to children requiring various surgeries and working closely with a multi-disciplinary team. Band 5 Registered Children’s Nurse – Fixed term to 30.11.26

Meadow Ward / Outpatients

Meadow Ward is a busy day surgery ward and admissions lounge caring for approximately 100 children per week. It cares for children requiring secondary and tertiary care across a huge array of specialities. Nursing staff also provide paediatric cover for children undergoing elective GA procedures at the Eye Hospital and an ENT urgent clinic. The ward also runs a nurse led telephone Pre-operative Assessment service

Meadow ward works closely with other ambulatory areas and there is the opportunity for a dual role in outpatients.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to provide exceptional standards of care. They must be organised and self -motivated, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This is a short term secondment so it is essential you are a fast learner or have day surgery experience. Please ensure you discuss with your current line manager that you are able to be considered for this secondment.

Communication and Relationship skills :

  • Demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in providing compassionate care for patients, visitors / relatives and colleagues.
  • Contribute towards sharing good practice within the ward / department and Trust wide.
  • Promote a positive image of University Hospital Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust at all times.
  • Work cohesively with all members of the ward team and promote effective liaison with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in ensuring that the very best services to patients are provided at all times.
  • Communicate effectively within the team, participate in motivating and supporting team members and maintain confidentiality with patients and carers. Give written and verbal advice / teaching to patients and carers.
