Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with a specialization in children's nursing.

  • Current APLS/EPALS provider certification required.

Job description
Overview

We're looking for a Paediatric Site Practitioner (PSP) to join The Portland Hospital, currently rated "Good" by the CQC and the UK's only private hospital dedicated to the healthcare needs of women and children. Our team of Paediatric Site Practitioners offer 24/7 cover across our wards, supporting with the assessment and management of acutely unwell and deteriorating paediatric patients, escalating as appropriate into HDU/PICU.

Responsibilities

As a Paediatric Site Practitioner, you'll provide a visible clinical presence around the site, acting as a role model and expert practitioner. You'll use your advanced nursing skill to co‑ordinate resources and work closely with on‑site Duty Managers. Day‑to‑day, you'll be involved in the PICU step‑down process, admissions via outpatients and urgent care centre, and support with bed allocation as a key member of the Clinical Emergency Team. Out of hours, you'll be part of Paediatric Hospital at Night Team to ensure a timely and appropriate response to patients' needs. You will also be expected to support the ward staff with challenging situations. The role requires a wide range of clinical skills and good communication.
