Job summary

Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant

The Paediatric Physiotherapy Service is looking to recruit a Band 3 Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant within the Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent area. You will be covering the whole county so access to your own vehicle is necessary for the role.

In the role you will support the Paediatric Physiotherapy Team by undertaking tasks in the implementation of care packages and provide feedback. You will be working under the direction of, but at times without direct supervision from a registered practitioner. This will be with children '../../ Sop. families from birth to 25 years maka diverse presentations and complex physical and psychosocial conditions.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake specific skilled paediatric physiotherapy support work with children and families (aged birth to 25 years) with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions, ensuring the most efficient use of skills, time and resources.
  • To support the physiotherapists in their role in discharge planning, carrying out environmental visits, ordering equipment, liaising with family and other agencies as required.
  • To apply skills, knowledge and competencies to recognise any change in the needs of the Child or Young person (CYP) and feedback to the registered practitioner.
  • To work without direct supervision but under the direction of qualified staff, undertaking tasks delegated by a qualified therapist, and taking responsibility for lone working.

  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships and good communication both within the Trust and with external partners e.g. education. To maintain sensitivity at all times to the emotional needs of the CYP and their families/carers offering reassurance and empathy.
  • To work with individuals and carers who may find it difficult to engage with the service resulting in uncooperative or challenging behaviour that has to be managed.
