Qualifications

  • Significant post-qualification paediatric experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialist diagnostic procedures and provide hearing-aid service to children.
  • Determine care plans for individual patients involving carers and families.
  • Assist with day-to-day management of the Paediatric Audiology service.
  • Participate in clinical audit, research, and governance activities.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain empathy and rapport with patients to enhance test quality.

Job description
Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic people to join our friendly and supportive team of paediatric audiologists in East London. These positions are based at West Ham Lane Health Centre in Stratford and work closely with the other paediatric audiology departments within Barts Health NHS Trust. The service provides a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation service for children, covering secondary and tertiary care and working closely with our Consultant audio‑vestibular physician.

Responsibilities
  • Perform specialist diagnostic procedures and provide a comprehensive specialist hearing‑aid service to children.
  • Determine care plans for individual patients and involve carers and families as appropriate.
  • Assist with the day‑to‑day management of the Paediatric Audiology service.
  • Take an active role in clinical audit, research and clinical governance, including designing and completing audits, participating in data collection for larger projects, and contributing to evidence‑based protocol development.
  • Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team within professional boundaries, ultimately accountable to the Clinical Lead and seeking guidance from peers or senior staff when necessary.
  • Carry out all audiological procedures according to national, professional and local protocols, justifying and documenting any contraindications or deviations in case or medical notes.
  • Maintain empathy and rapport with patients during testing to maximise test quality and minimise anxiety.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Audiology or Clinical Physiology (audiology) or equivalent.
  • Registered with either AHCS or HCPC.
  • Significant post‑qualification paediatric experience is desirable.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a large team.
