Job summary

An international organization in London is looking for an Outreach Coordinator to manage outreach activities for Blue Charter member countries. The successful candidate will also oversee the Commonwealth Blue Charter Incubator Grants and support strategic planning efforts. The ideal applicant will have a relevant degree and at least five years of experience in project coordination and outreach. A good understanding of ocean issues is desirable. Outreach Coordinator (Blue Charter)

£54,813 p/a + benefits

We have an outstanding opportunity in our Climate Change and Ocean Directorate for an Outreach Coordinator (Blue Charter).

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating outreach amongst Blue Charter member countries and partners, assisting the organisation of Blue Charter meetings, and project management of the Commonwealth Blue Charter Incubator Grants Programme. They will also be required to contribute to strategic planning discussions for the Commonwealth Blue Charter, particularly concerning outreach and coordination.

Other responsibilities entailed in this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinating with the Blue Charter Outreach Manager and Ocean Advisers, preparing key correspondence and materials, organising Action Group meetings, knowledge sharing opportunities such as webinars and trainings, and coordinating outreach to countries, partners, and funders;
  • Implementing Commonwealth Blue Charter Incubator Grants, which will include working with countries to develop grant proposals, co-ordinating grant documentation and frameworks, reviewing grant proposals, contract management grants, payment processing of grants, reporting to funders, and similar.
  • Contributing to the preparation of work plans and budgets, and monitoring and reporting on budget/programme performance. This will be delivered in the context of results-based management;
  • Assisting in developing strategic partnerships, aimed at advancing the intervention of the Commonwealth Secretariat, for the benefit of member countries and their Action Groups;
  • Assisting in resource mobilisation to support member countries in implementing ocean governance and Blue Charter actions.

The position may include some overseas travel.

To be considered you must have a first degree in Business Administration, Law, Political Science, Environmental Science/Policy, a Social Science, Communications or similar, plus a minimum of five years of combined experience in project coordination, outreach, communications, grant management or external relations activities, preferably gained in an international development setting.

A good understanding of ocean issues, experience of working with one or more Commonwealth governments, and/or experience implementing grants is desirable.
