Overview

Astute's Power team is exclusively partnering with a leading power generation company to recruit an Operations Technician on a 1-year Fixed Term Contract for their OCGT site in Northamptonshire. The Operations Technician role comes with a starting salary of £55,000 + benefits. If you are an experienced DCS Operator who has experience in a similar environment, submit your CV to apply today.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out safe and efficient start-up, shutdown, and operation of the plant in line with legislation, company procedures, and industry best practice.
  • Monitor plant performance to achieve production targets while ensuring the integrity and reliability of equipment.
  • Operate the plant through Control Room DCS systems, monitoring parameters, alarms, and overall system status.
  • Undertake routine plant inspections, operational duties, and respond effectively to faults.
  • Perform first-line and preventative maintenance tasks to support continuous plant availability.
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Take on the role of Emergency Controller when required, implementing site emergency plans.
  • Maintain all required competencies and qualifications relevant to the role, including areas such as First Aid.
  • Work flexibly to meet changing operational and business needs.
Professional qualifications
  • Holds a level 3 qualification and is apprentice trained
  • A HNC or higher is highly desirable
  • Experience operating and maintain industrial plant / equipment, ideally within a power generation site
  • A strong understanding of health and safety, including Safe Systems of Work and ideally some exposure to Safety Rules
  • An understanding of environmental regulations and permits
  • Ability to operate plant via DCS, and respond to alarms and abnormal conditions effectively
Personal skills
  • Ability to carry out lone-working and self-motivated
  • Strong problem-solving ability and proactive approach
  • Willingness to work a shift rota including nights
