Security, Policing and Enforcement Directorate (SPE) is responsible for enforcement, compliance, policing and security and community safety across TfL.
Position Type – Nights
Grade – Operational
Salary: £42,507 rising to £47,145 after 1 year (including a non‑consolidated shift allowance of up to 25%)
Operations Officers will mainly work a night shift pattern including weekends and bank holidays between 2100 and 0645.
Location: You could be based anywhere in the Greater London area, depending on business requirements. This is not a hybrid role – this is a full uniformed role.

As an Operations Officer you will provide a reassuring visible presence, enforce the rules and regulations of TfL services, and carry out further specific enforcement such as vehicle checks, issuing parking tickets or checking passenger tickets on the bus network. All Officers are trained to tackle anti‑social behaviour and work‑related violence and aggression on our network.
Please note that due to the nature of this role, you may encounter situations which involve violence and aggression, or safeguarding concerns where you will be required to act in support of the individuals involved.

Operations Officer is a physically demanding role. You will need to be in good physical condition to pass the mandatory JRFT, which involves a multi‑stage shuttle run (bleep test) designed to ensure you can perform the essential physical tasks of the job. The required pass mark for recruitment is Level 5.4 (≈3 minutes 35 seconds, 35 shuttles).
