Job Description:

Operations Manager – Consultany

About the Role

At Harmony Fire, our consultancy services play a vital role in shaping safe, efficient, and compliant projects. As Operations Manager – Consultancy, you will lead the consultancy division, ensuring our strategies, people, and sub-consultants deliver outstanding results for clients and for the business.

This is a leadership role for an A-Player who thrives on strategy, accountability, and commercial delivery. You’ll combine client relationship management, financial oversight, and team leadership to deliver projects that protect lives and set new standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the consultancy division, ensuring alignment with Harmony’s wider business goals and methodology
  • Own and develop client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and delivering value through expertise and insight
  • Provide accurate forecasting of project costs, resources, and programme milestones – maintaining accuracy within 10%
  • Ensure consultancy projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest compliance standards
  • Drive financial performance by protecting margin, managing sub-consultant input, and ensuring value for money
  • Support business development with expert advice on scope, compliance, and programme matters
  • Negotiate effectively with clients and sub-consultants, justifying costs and demonstrating value
  • Select, manage, and develop high-performing sub-consultants to ensure capacity, capability, and accountability
  • Mentor and coach consultancy staff, contributing to appraisals, professional development, and performance management
  • Innovate and streamline processes to maximise efficiency and delivery performance
  • Collaborate closely with Delivery to ensure seamless transition from consultancy to works phase
  • Manage project challenges to 100% resolution, both internally and externally
  • Produce structured client progress reports and maintain accurate records in Salesforce
  • Promote and embed the Harmony methodology (Think, Protect, Sustain) across all consultancy projects

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in consultancy or project management within construction, M&E, or fire protection
  • Proven ability to lead project strategy and execution from scope through to deliverables
  • Commercial intelligence and financial acumen – able to protect margins while maintaining client trust
  • Skilled communicator – clear, persuasive, and empathetic with clients and sub-consultants
  • Logical, proactive problem solver who brings solutions, not just challenges
  • Strong leadership and people management skills – able to inspire, coach, and hold others to account
  • Highly organised with a do it right first time mindset
  • Ambitious, passionate, and committed to building a consultancy service that outperforms competitors

By embodying these values, you will not only contribute to our success but also thrive personally and professionally.

Why Work for Harmony Fire

  • Opportunity to shape strategy and set new standards of delivery in the sector
  • Direct impact on safe, compliant projects that protect thousands of residents
  • Competitive salary with performance-related bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits package including private medical, unlimited holiday, and enhanced family policies
  • Professional development plans, mentoring, and leadership training
  • Team social budgets, company-wide events, and recognition schemes
