Job summary

Job description
THE ROLE
  • In conjunction with the Company’s production planner, site supervisors and ERP system, continually review and oversee capacity planning across all activity centres to enable accurate prediction and quotation of delivery lead times.
  • Oversee and manage the day‑to‑day planning, prioritisation, control and allocation of work within the factory, ensuring delivery dates agreed are always met.
  • Ensure production capacity matches demand, in the short and long term, through control of overtime, manning levels, shift working, capital investment justification, and efficiencies improvement.
  • Recommend and implement method improvements and capital purchases as necessary.
  • Liaise with purchasing to maintain adequate stock levels and avoid stockout/production stoppages.
  • Fully understand the roles of direct, lead and support the immediate subordinates, stepping temporarily in where necessary.
  • Recruit, motivate and lead all factory employees.
  • Ensure compliance with current employment legislation and relevant safety legislation, including providing necessary training such as induction, company rules, H&S and job‑specific skills.
  • Recommend and continually review remuneration levels and skillsets for factory employees.
  • Monitor and update disciplinary procedures in line with best practice, implementing disciplinary actions when required.
  • Carry out regular performance appraisals, retraining and reskilling as appropriate.
  • Take responsibility for quality control and maintain QA practices.
  • Set and maintain productivity standards and targets.
  • Continuously improve factory efficiencies through better working methods, layouts, organisation and systems.
  • Maintain and manage any bonus schemes in force from time to time.
  • Carry out specific projects as and when required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday with flexibility when required.

THE CANDIDATE
  • A proven track record of running manufacturing operations and supporting growth objectives.
  • An engaging demeanour capable of leading and creating "buy in".
  • Always seeking to improve practice and identify process improvements, with the ability to communicate issues and instruct colleagues on change implementation.
  • Experience leading, coaching, inspiring, supporting and motivating all team members.
  • Experience managing a large number of tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong strategic mindset.
  • Proven and passionate leader.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices and employment law.
  • Strong H&S experience and training (NEBOSH significant advantage).
  • Effective communication and active listening skills.
