Job summary

A leading consultancy in operational technologies is seeking an Operational Technology Engineer / Architect / SME for a long-term contract in Manchester. The role involves acting as a technical authority for critical operational applications, enhancing system performance and governance, and overseeing upgrades. The position is mostly remote with occasional travel to Edinburgh. Strong experience in OT, particularly with GE Vernova PowerOn and SCADA is essential. Competitive rate of £870 per day.

Operational Technology Engineer / Architect / SME

Contract: Initial 9 months (long-term programme)

Rate: £870 per day Inside IR35

Location: Mostly remote with occasional travel to Edinburgh once per month

Looking for an Operational Technology Engineer / Architect / SME, acting as technical authority for business-critical operational applications. The focus is on improving system performance and resilience, governing OT architecture, approving upgrades, and supporting long-term operational stability across core platforms.

Key Requirements

• Operational Technology (OT) engineer, architect, or SME experience
• Strong experience with GE Vernova PowerOn (highly desirable) and ADMS platforms
• Good working knowledge of SCADA, AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI), and ODMS
• Experience acting as design authority for OT infrastructure and application changes
• Proven involvement in operational acceptance testing, upgrades, and go / no-go decisions
• Ability to improve monitoring, performance, and resilience of OT applications
• Comfortable mentoring engineers and setting technical and procedural standards
