Operational Lead – SEN Assessment Team

Duration: Initially 3 months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working situation: Hybrid, based out of Chichester
Rate: £450 umbrella per day (£325 PAYE a day)West Sussex County Council is seeking an experienced Operational Lead to provide both operational and professional leadership to the SEN Assessment Team (SENAT), which comprises six teams delivering services across the 0–25 age range.
In this role, you will ensure the service meets all statutory requirements and delivers efficient, customer-focused services in line with national expectations. You will play a vital part in strategic planning, resource management, and service improvement while ensuring placements and provision are effectively managed to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading, coordinating, and integrating SENAT services across the county.
Supporting team managers with complex case-related decision-making.
Overseeing statutory assessments, EHCP processes, and placement decisions.
Working closely with senior leadership to manage the High Needs Budget effectively.
Managing SENAT staff, including Specialist Advisory Teachers, Special Needs Officers, and Tribunal Officers.
Deputising for the Principal Service Lead and supporting the wider development of the service.What we’re looking for:
