Job description

This full‑time post (Monday‑Friday 9:00am‑5:00pm) is primarily based within the adolescent inpatient units at Prestwich Hospital – Junction 17 (mixed adolescent acute unit, 15 beds) and the Gardener Unit (medium secure unit for adolescent males, 10 beds). Both units are accredited with QNIC and have received outstanding ratings for the caring domain from the CQC.

The post holder will join an experienced and welcoming multi‑disciplinary team comprising psychiatrists, registered mental health nurses, clinical psychologists, and social workers and be part of a specialist occupational therapy service that includes occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and activity coordinators.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a defined caseload using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions and record all interventions.
  • Abide by the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for OT Practice, and the Health Professions Council (HPC) Standards for registration and ensure compliance of others.
  • Develop skills and knowledge through participation in a Continuing Professional Development planning process to meet the competency framework.
  • Work within a CAMHS inpatient mental health setting, including a secure hospital setting, providing services to patients with acute, complex, and challenging needs.
  • Engage in the AHP preceptorship programme if not already completed.
