We are recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work in a team in Blackburn.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in Blackburn with Darwen on a locum basis. This role involves delivering essential community‑based assessments and interventions for individuals requiring moving and handling support to promote independence, safety, and well‑being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct community assessments in a local authority setting, identifying needs and recommending both standard and specialist equipment for moving and handling.
  • Perform comprehensive moving and handling assessments, ensuring safe practices and compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, and other professionals to create individualised support plans focused on safe mobility and handling.
  • To assess and demonstrate single‑handed solutions to meeting handling needs in a community setting.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records in line with professional and legal standards.
  • Provide demonstration and instruction to formal and informal care providers on the safe moving and handling practice and use of equipment provided from the outcome of the assessment.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration and relevant qualifications in Occupational Therapy.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a local authority setting.
  • Proficiency in completing moving and handling assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment provision and home adaptation processes.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
