Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Chichester is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide community therapy. Responsibilities include managing patient caseloads and supporting team members through mentoring and coaching. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Occupational Therapy, relevant registration, and strong interpersonal skills. Salary is between £38,682 to £46,580 per annum, pro rata.

Job description

The successful applicant will provide occupational therapy to patients in the community and support other staff with their patient caseloads. You will need an excellent and wide-ranging knowledge of a variety of health conditions.

You will support colleagues with mentoring, coaching and teaching. The emphasis will be on providing occupational therapy in order to support community patients to maximise their independence and achieve their goals.

You will also provide specialist support to therapy colleagues and work closely with the other clinical and operational members of therapy services and members of the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring seamless care for patients going in and out of hospital.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, a demonstrable dedication to personal development and a commitment to providing high quality care to a range of patients with differing needs.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job;

Provide occupational therapy to patients in the community setting

Provide professional occupational therapy advice/ guidance to other team members

To support the leadership team in service development and ensuring clinical excellence

To take part in the responsibility for work allocation and triage

To support and be involved with service change and development

To provide regular supervision and complete appraisals for staff

To keep up to date with clinical competencies and ensure supervisees maintain their competencies

To manage an active caseload of patients

Qualifications
  • Professional qualification such as a degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council

Experience
  • Substantial relevant post-qualification experience covering a broad range
  • Experience of working within a relevant specialist area
  • Experience of interdisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising junior staff, assistants and students
  • Experience of independently managing a clinical caseload
  • Experience at contributing to audit and evaluation within a clinical governance framework
  • Experience of a range of caseload management and prioritisation systems
  • Experience within specialism underpinned by theory and specific therapeutic knowledge
