Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Level 3 qualified Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our team on a full‑time basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the lead teacher and contributing to the overall development and well‑being of our nursery children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead teacher in planning, implementing, and evaluating daily activities and learning experiences that align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
  • Support children's learning and development across all areas of the EYFS, including communication and language, physical development, personal, social, and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design
  • Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to their learning journals
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment
  • Prepare and set up activities, resources, and materials for daily lessons and play
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, mealtimes, and rest periods
  • Provide personal care and assistance to children, including toileting, changing, and feeding when necessary
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about their child's progress and any concerns
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
  • Adhere to all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities
  • Assist with the implementation of behavior management strategies and promote positive behavior
  • Support children with special educational needs and disabilities, working closely with the SENCO and external professionals when required
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of special events, celebrations, and outings
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and nursery operations
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a nursery or early years setting
  • Thorough understanding of the EYFS framework and its practical application
  • Current Pediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Up-to‑date knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when working independently
  • Physical capability to engage in active play and lift children when necessary
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and needs of children
  • Basic IT skills for record‑keeping and communication purposes
