Job summary

A leading educational institution in Edinburgh is looking for a dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join their team. This position focuses on outdoor learning and engaging children's development in a playroom setting. Applicants should have at least one year of experience in a childcare environment and possess an HNC or SVQ 3 in Early Education and Childcare. The successful candidate will also act as a mentor for new staff and play a key role in staff training.

Job description
Overview

Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the role of Nursery Practitioner. We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of working as part of a team within a childcare setting. The applicant should have a minimum of one year’s experience of working with children. We are looking for individuals with a genuine passion for the learning and development of children in the early years. We are particularly interested in people with a love of outdoor learning and forest schools experience. The position will be playroom based with a high level of outdoor practice.

Responsibilities

Among other tasks, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • engaging in and supporting the daily running of the playroom
  • acting as a mentor for student placements and new team members
  • developing outdoor experiences and engaging in high quality outdoor learning experiences
  • engaging in staff training and development
  • taking an active role in sharing information and good practice
  • supporting the delivery of in-house training courses
Qualifications and Experience
  • Applicants should possess an HNC or SVQ 3 (or equivalent) in Early Education and Childcare or Childcare Practice for a practitioner post
  • Applicants must have a minimum of one years’ experience in a childcare setting
  • Applicants must be registered with the SSSC
