Job description

Nursery Manager

Zero2Five is proud to be working with a quality private nursery that is looking to employ an experienced Nursery Manager for their home away from home setting near Oadby, Leicester. The successful candidate will promote the aims and objectives of the nursery for children from birth to 5 years, implement and lead the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, and adhere to all legal and statutory frameworks. You will work closely with the Area Manager to direct and support staff in setting nursery standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the welfare and safety of children is paramount within the setting, and that any child protection concerns are appropriately acted upon immediately, following LSCB guidelines.
  • Plan and organise staff rota's and holidays, maintaining adequate staffing ratios in accordance with Ofsted and nursery procedures.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining health and safety standards suitable for young children and ensure staff compliance and awareness.
  • Attend relevant training, conferences, and meetings to support your professional development, as well as supporting staff development by staying up to date with childcare and education practices.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursery at all times.
  • Act as a nursery ambassador and lead by example.
  • Liaise with agencies, HR, and the Area Manager as required. Ensure comprehensive monthly staff meetings are held.
  • Support staff development needs by providing clear guidance, direction, and comprehensive training. Offer similar support to students and nursery volunteers in placement.
  • Provide all children with equal opportunities regardless of religious persuasion, racial origins, disabilities, cultural, or linguistic backgrounds; especially in challenging situations involving racism or discrimination.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and/or carers, providing high standards of customer service, including regular progress reports.
  • Work with parents/carers and staff to meet children's specific needs and consider parental choices in care provision.
  • Plan and organise regular parents' evenings, publicity events, open weekends, children's outings, and support marketing and fundraising activities outside of normal working hours as required.
  • Oversee and support administrative procedures related to registration, place allocation, and other matters.
  • Ensure the building's upkeep, maintenance, stock of equipment, furnishings, and fittings are well managed, keeping records of expenditure and using budgets effectively.
  • Essential Criteria:

    • Minimum Level 5 Early Years Qualification
    • At least 2 years' management experience
    • Experience implementing the EYFS
    • Good knowledge of legislation relevant to Early Years, such as EYFS, SEND, safeguarding, Childcare Act 2006, and Health and Safety
    • Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certificate
    • Experience working in partnership with parents, carers, and family members
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills
