Job description

Nursery Cook - Burnham - Ref : TE63052

We are looking for a warm, reliable cook to join our friendly and supportive nursery team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing nutritious meals for young children and takes pride in creating a welcoming, well‑organised kitchen environment. Our nursery is committed to providing high‑quality care, and healthy food plays an important part in every child’s day.

The cook will be responsible for planning and preparing fresh, balanced meals and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of children aged from babies to pre‑school. You will work closely with the nursery manager to follow menus, accommodate allergies and dietary requirements, and ensure food is prepared safely and on time each day.

As a nursery‑based cook, you will prepare lunches and snacks, manage food storage, maintain high standards of cleanliness, and complete basic kitchen records. You will follow food hygiene regulations at all times and help ensure that mealtimes are calm, enjoyable, and well organised for the children and staff.

The successful cook will ideally hold a relevant food hygiene certificate and have previous experience working in a similar environment, although this is not essential. More important is a positive attitude, good time management skills, and a genuine enjoyment of working as part of a childcare setting.

This is a part‑time position for 20 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. The working hours are 9am to 1pm, although we are happy to agree to 9.30am to 1.30pm if preferred. This is a four‑hour shift each day, offering excellent work–life balance. The hourly rate of pay is £13.50 per hour.

This cook role offers stability, supportive management, and the chance to make a real difference to children’s daily experiences. You will be valued as an important member of the nursery team.

If you are a passionate cook who enjoys preparing healthy food in a caring environment, we would love to hear from you. Apply today to become our trusted cook and help nourish young minds every day
