The Post

Are you a Nurse Consultant Infection Prevention and Control with experience at a senior level? Consider an opportunity to work within Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) Scotland, part of National Services Scotland, delivering national services that enable a safer and healthier Scotland.

Part of NHS Scotland Assure, ARHAI leads and supports prevention of healthcare-associated infection through guidance development, surveillance, operational support, and training, covering incident and outbreak management, decontamination, the built environment, research, and infection prevention and control expertise.

We are seeking a Nurse Consultant to join the ARHAI Group to provide clinical leadership across ARHAI Scotland’s six Priority Programmes: ICBED (Infection Control in Built Environment & Decontamination), NPGE (National Policies, Guidance and Evidence), CHIPC (Care Home Infection Prevention and Control), D&I (Data & Intelligence), CA (Clinical Assurance) and SONAAR (Scottish One Health Antimicrobial Use and Antimicrobial Resistance).

The Candidate
  • First level registered nurse with a Masters degree or equivalent learning and evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Relevant clinical expertise, experience of leadership and innovation within this setting.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills; ability to prioritise, assess and make decisions; proactive, innovative and enthusiastic.
  • Knowledge of ARHAI Scotland would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate NSS values of respect and care, openness, and integrity.
  • Current NMC registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern
  • National post hosted by ARHAI Scotland. Contract location is Glasgow with hybrid working and significant scope for working from home; access to other NSS buildings in Scotland as required.
  • Currently hybrid working.
  • Work pattern: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
  • You must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post.
