Nuclear Safety Case Engineer

Must be a sole British national and eligible for SC clearance due to project requirements

Permanent | Remote working (2 days a quarter in Cumbria) | £60,000+ (DOE)

Copello is working with a leading defence and engineering organisation to recruit a Nuclear Safety Case Engineer for a long-term programme at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear sector.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in high-integrity, regulated environments and wants to take ownership of key safety deliverables. You’ll support the development and ongoing assurance of nuclear safety cases — working closely with Engineering, Human Factors, and Site Safety teams to maintain high standards and plant safety.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing and reviewing nuclear substantiation and safety case documentation
  • Supporting periodic reviews and safety case implementation
  • Leading your own deliverables and contributing to team development
  • Engaging with stakeholders across technical and operational functions
  • Reviewing analysis, calculations, and supporting evidence for safety justifications

Requirements:

  • Background in nuclear safety, safety case development, or substantiation work
  • Experience in regulated or high-hazard industries (nuclear, defence, etc.)
  • Ability to produce well-structured technical reports
  • Comfort collaborating with engineering and assurance teams
