Job summary

A regional health service in Scotland is looking for a Public Health Practitioner – Senior to join their Health Improvement Team. Public Health Practitioner – Senior

37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Public Health Practitioner – Senior, to join the Health Improvement Team, within the Public Health Directorate. The post will contribute to the strategic support and advise on the development and implementation of health improvement programmes and projects within the Health Improvement Team, working to Public Health priorities, as required. In particular, the post will support the implementation of the Whole Systems Approach to Reducing Obesity across Grampian.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the public health/health improvement field acquired through relevant degree, supplemented by specialist public health improvement knowledge, acquired through training, extended courses and experience to postgraduate diploma level in Public Health/Health Improvement (or equivalent experience).

They will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of current and relevant health improvement policy and how it translates operationally, as well as having excellent project and people management skills. They will have experience of involving/engagement with the public. In addition, the postholder will work in partnership with Public Health colleagues within the Public Health Directorate, and HSCP Public Health Teams, clinicians, Allied Health Professionals and managers across Primary and Secondary Care. Outwith NHS Grampian, partnerships will be developed and maintained with national, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector colleagues.

They will work unsupervised, working independently in an effective and efficient manner, adhering to strict deadlines and having the flexibility to manage and prioritise their own workload.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Grampian area as required, is essential for this post.
