Job description
KatKin's Opportunity
What we do at KatKin

Cats are undeniably champions of the Internet. They’re cute, hilarious, and sometimes complete jerks — what’s not to love? Yet despite their fame, cats have been overlooked by the pet food industry, with many brands offering repackaged dog food rather than meals designed for obligate carnivores.

Enter KatKin.

We make the UK’s only fresh cat food: 100% human-quality meat, gently cooked and frozen for freshness. No shortcuts. No compromise. Just hardcore love for cat health.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us
The Role

As a Nightshift Hygiene Operative, you’ll play a vital hands-on role in keeping the KatKin Kitchen clean, safe and fully compliant. Working as part of the night hygiene team, you’ll carry out cleaning and sanitisation tasks that ensure the site is ready for production each morning and meets the highest food safety standards expected of a high-care frozen meat manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in high standards, works well as part of a team, and understands the importance of hygiene in food production.

Shift pattern: 10:00pm – 6:00am, Monday to Friday Currently subject to change

Key ownership areas
  • Carrying out daily cleaning and sanitisation tasks across production areas, equipment, floors, walls and conveyors
  • Following approved cleaning methods, schedules and instructions to meet food safety and hygiene standards
  • Using cleaning chemicals safely and correctly, in line with COSHH and site procedures
  • Completing hygiene tasks to ensure the site is production-ready on time each morning
  • Supporting pre-operational checks and reporting any issues or non-conformances
  • Maintaining a clean-as-you-go approach throughout the shift
  • Correct handling and disposal of waste in line with site standards
  • Wearing PPE correctly and working safely at all times, including lock-out/tag-out where trained
  • Reporting equipment faults, hygiene risks or safety concerns to the Hygiene Supervisor or Manager
  • Supporting audits, inspections and pest-control activities when required
  • Completing basic hygiene records and checklists accurately
Who we are looking for:

You’re someone who:

  • Is hard-working, reliable and takes pride in high standards

  • Understands the importance of food safety, hygiene and personal responsibility
  • Is comfortable working with raw meat (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb)
  • Can follow written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly with colleagues and supervisors

  • Has a good level of spoken English
