Overview

Night Registered Veterinary Nurse – 12-Month Fixed Term (Maternity Cover)

• Balanced Night Schedule: 4 nights on, 8 nights off (plus 18 extra shifts per year), averaging 35 hours per week
• Advanced Facilities: Access to a new CT scanner, in-house lab, and on-site advanced orthopaedic, soft-tissue, and minimally invasive surgeries
• Supportive Team: Work alongside a permanent night vet, another RVN, and a student or VCA for a well-supported shift
• Attractive Package: Competitive salary of £33,250–£39,375 (£38,000–£45,000 FTE) plus generous CPD allowance, 6.6 weeks’ leave, and private healthcare options

About the Practice

This state-of-the-art practice delivers exceptional first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral services to a loyal client base and a network of 20 local branches. Facilities include a new CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, and a talented medical team. Advanced orthopaedic, soft-tissue, and minimally invasive surgeries are performed on-site throughout the week.

The Role

• Contract: 12-month fixed term (maternity cover)
• Hours: 4 nights on, 8 nights off (7.30 pm–8.30 am) plus 18 additional shifts per year (average 35 hours/week)
• Team: Work alongside another permanent RVN, a student or VCA, and a dedicated night vet

Responsibilities include conducting ward rounds, taking overnight calls, triaging emergencies, assisting with emergency surgeries, and general night tasks—including the occasional climb up “Mount Laundry”!
