Overview

Role: Night Porter - Casual

Reporting to: Duty Manager

Contract: Casual zero hours contract

Salary: £12.98 per hour

The role purpose: As a member of the hotel operations team, you will work to ensure the safety and security of the hotel and our guests and provide efficient, prompt, trouble free and courteous service to guests in absence of Duty Managers and staff during the night. You will be passionate about providing exceptional guest experience and living through the Hotels standards. The role supports the management team alongside all other departments to ensure the smooth overnight running of the Hotel. Shifts will cover Monday-Sunday, various night shifts (11pm-7am) including weekends and bank holidays on a rolling rota.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding of the hotel and its occupants, with awareness of health & safety procedures.
  • To attend to your duties in a timely manner.
  • To be the responsible person from 11.00pm to 7.00am, maintaining operational needs throughout the night and responding to guest requirements and/or emergencies.
  • To clean and re-set the Hotel to basic standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • To ensure areas are clean and prepared following service which can involve lifting and moving of equipment and furniture.
  • Ensure all public areas (internal & external) are clear of rubbish, debris and cigarette ends to provide a high guest experience.
  • To respond to guest issues as appropriate.
  • To control access to the hotel during working hours, locking and unlocking main access doors as necessary, responding to guests arriving ‘after hours’.
  • Check in or out any guests arriving outside of hours reception is manned.
  • To patrol the venue on foot to guard against theft, vandalism and fire.
  • Report any maintenance issues to the relevant person.
  • React to incidents and emergencies and record in detail.
  • To be aware of fire procedure and health & safety procedures and ensure safe evacuation of the venue in event of a fire, liaising with emergency services where required.
  • Provide ‘out of hours’ support to other accommodation options within the organisation via telephone.
  • Attend staff training sessions.
  • Strict adherence to health and safety policies and procedures and GDPR compliance.
  • Any other duties specified by your Line Managers or Directors.
Internal and External Relationships
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across departments to achieve the Hotel’s operational, and The Auckland Projects organisational objectives.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with the large team of volunteers and colleagues.
