Overview

As a senior network engineer you would be expected to have a good working knowledge of the following network technologies: Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Firewalls, BIG IP (F5), Network Protocols, Cisco Switching, Routing, Security and wireless technologies. Knowledge of Virtual Environments and virtual network solutions (i.e. VMware, Azure). You’ll work closely with project managers, developers, incident and problem managers, as well as external suppliers, translating technical terminology and building trusted relationships. You’ll communicate clearly and with authority—optimising systems, escalating service issues, or producing high- and low-level documentation—while maintaining your own professional growth and keeping pace with the latest technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to IT operations that protect systems and data, balancing hands‑on technical work with leadership responsibilities.
  • Set direction, coach engineers, and drive high performance while prioritising day‑to‑day tasks and ensuring requirements are met and incidents are resolved quickly.
  • Collaborate with project managers, developers, incident and problem managers, and external suppliers; translate technical terminology and build trusted relationships.
  • Describe and document systems and procedures, producing high‑ and low‑level documentation.
  • Identify patterns, address recurring issues, and recommend process improvements to raise the standard of technical services.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and support senior engineers, while pursuing ongoing professional development.
  • Design, configure and support solutions across firewalls, cloud platforms, networks, and infrastructure to maintain system resilience.
  • Produce documentation, report on key performance measures, and share knowledge with others.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and workloads, working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Experience in support and design in highly secure environments.
