Job summary

A technology staffing agency is looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join a busy onsite support team in Wrexham. This role requires strong customer-facing skills, excellent technical ability, and proven experience providing 2nd line support. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in IT Service Desk roles, solid knowledge of Windows OS, Active Directory, and networking. IT Support Engineer - Onsite (Wrexham)

£150-£180 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract | Onsite | 3-5+ Years Experience

We are seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer to join a busy onsite support team in Wrexham. This role requires strong customer‑facing skills, excellent technical ability, and proven experience supporting users in a fast‑paced enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 2nd Line onsite support to users, including VIP support
  • Deliver Windows OS installations, configurations, and deployments
  • Support tablet and device rollouts, including imaging, UAT, and end‑user handover
  • Administer Active Directory, user accounts, group policies, and Exchange support
  • Conduct Wintel administration, patching, WSUS management, and Windows Server support (2008/2012/2016)
  • Troubleshoot and support TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and general network issues
  • Provide LAN support, basic network administration, and assist with CCTV infrastructure
  • Support Office 365, Outlook, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, OS updates, and enterprise‑wide rollout projects
  • Work with ESX VMware, RDP, Citrix Presentation Server environments
Required Experience
  • 3-5+ years in an IT Service Desk or 2nd Line Support role
  • Strong customer‑facing and soft skills - confident supporting users face‑to‑face
  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • Windows OS / Windows Server
    • Active Directory & Exchange
    • Networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs)
    • O365 support
    • Device rollouts & hardware deployment
    • VMware / RDP / Citrix environments
  • Relevant certifications (MCP/MCSE) highly desirable
