Job summary

A leading project management consultancy in the UK is seeking an experienced NEC4 Project Manager to oversee major highways infrastructure projects. This role, based in Oldham, offers a hybrid working model with an hourly pay rate of £55.00 - £60.00 for 35-37 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing NEC4 projects, strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, and a degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management. Candidates must have access to their own vehicle as travel to various sites is essential.

Our Client is seeking highly skilled NEC4 Project Managers to deliver a range of major highways infrastructure projects funded through the Levelling Up Fund 2 (LUF2) and City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS). This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in transforming our client's transport network, contributing to their vision of creating connected, sustainable, and thriving communities.

To apply for this role you must have proven experience in managing complex highways or infrastructure projects under NEC4 contract conditions, ideally a Civil Engineer, Project Manager or equivalent by experience. Candidates will be required to travel around to various sites so a full driver's licence and access to car is essential. Please state this on your application.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the planning, programming, and project management of funded highways projects from inception to completion.
  • Manage commercial and contractual obligations under NEC4 contracts (preferably Option B – Priced Bill of Quantities).
  • Oversee and coordinate external contributors and stakeholders integral to project delivery.
  • Produce and maintain construction programmes aligned with capital and funding requirements.
  • Represent the Council in consultations, public meetings, and cross-departmental or external collaborations to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Proven experience in managing complex highways or infrastructure projects under NEC4 contract conditions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to ensure governance, compliance, and value for money in all project phases.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management (or equivalent professional qualification desirable).
  • Must have access to own car – ability to travel across multiple sites.
